Radiofrequency microneedling (Morpheus8, Potenza, Sylfirm X)
Fine needles deliver radiofrequency heat inside the skin to treat scars, pores and laxity.
Worth it?
4/5Worth it for acne scars and texture, especially on darker skin. The tightening claims in ads are overstated, but texture results are real after a full series.
How it works
Insulated micro-needles enter the skin to a set depth and release radiofrequency heat at their tips. This triggers strong collagen remodelling with little damage to the surface. Sylfirm X also has a 'pulsed' mode used for melasma and redness.
How it feels
Hot, sharp stinging after 45–60 minutes of numbing cream. Deeper settings (especially Morpheus8) can be very uncomfortable.
Radiofrequency microneedling (Morpheus8, Potenza, Sylfirm X) downtime — and is it worth it?
How much downtime: Moderate — 1–4 days of redness and swelling, sometimes tiny grid marks for up to a week.
Cost for that downtime: $600–$1,500 per session, 3 sessions, 4–6 weeks apart.
Is it worth it? Our verdict (4/5): Worth it for acne scars and texture, especially on darker skin. The tightening claims in ads are overstated, but texture results are real after a full series.
